Most of us have heard that article marketing is the way to go when promoting your business online, but if you haven’t seen the results you wanted, it seems like a hoax. Well, article marketing really is something that can be an amazing way to drive traffic, but only if it is done the right way. Here are a few tips on making your marketing efforts worthwhile.

Great articles. While any old article will get you backlinks, a good article will catch people’s attention and get them to reprint it on their site, reaching even more people and getting more backlinks. Ensure that you have top quality articles taht are actually informative and your article marketing will take off.

Freebie offer. When you have a freebie to give away on your site, you will find that clickthrough rates are far higher on your articles. People want to get stuff for free and not only does that mean they will come to your website, they will also sign up for your mailing list, so you have long term access to potential clients.

Rewrite often. While you can certainly submit the same exact article to 100 different article directories, it is far more effective if you rewrite it before submitting to too many. After every five directories, for example, you can change the article up, give it a new title and avoid problems with duplicate content.

Be consistent. While submitting ten articles all at once is all fine and good, you will get better results from submitting articles on a daily or weekly basis. A continuous stream of ne backlinks is far better in Google’s eyes than a sudden burst every once in a while.

Great bios. The bio that you include with each article needs to be a call to action, one that will get people to clink on your links. Without this, your article is going to be pretty much useless.

Polished landing page. Where do people go when they click on the links in your bio? Hopefully to a page that is perfectly polished to capture as many email addresses as possible! Even if the visitor doesn’t buy, you should get their email address so you can contact them later with special offers.

You can work on one or all of these areas, but the truth is, just about everyone could benefit from doign all of the above. Keep polishing and making things better, striving for top quality articles and you will stand out from those who are hiring writers for $2 an article and posting poorly written articles.
