The other day, I saw an ad looking for writers that was paying pitifully low. The reason for this low payment was “article marketing just isn’t what it used to be”. We’ll ignore the fact that the person was trying to get away with not paying writers what they are worth and focus on the article marketing part instead.
Is it true that article marketing is no longer useful? Many people report lower conversion rates on their articles and fewer clickthroughs than before, so it certainly seems likeĀ a possibility. Until you look closer.
Have you taken a peek at the articles being thrown out into article directories these days? They are, for lack of a better word, crap. Oh, there are a few gems here and there, but the vast majority of articles being used in article marketing nowadays are so poorly done that it’s no wonder no one is clicking on the links.
This is where hiring a decent writer is worth it. If you are using quality articles to promote your products, you will have a much higher conversion rate. Spinning articles, using software to redo PLR articles that were crud to begin with and hiring writers who turn out 50 articles for $50 is a sure way to end up with nothing. If you are going to invest money, do it the right way and go for quality.

PLR articles abound online, but unfortunately, unless you purchase limited edition article packs, you won’t be able to use them for article marketing or even on your website without getting dinged by Google for duplicate content. This isn’t an issue if you rewrite the articles, however.
Rewriting articles doesn’t need to be terribly difficult. Basically you need to focus on three areas.
Title: You should ALWAYS change the title of a PLR article. Be sure to use your keywords in the title and make it zippy to catch people’s attention.
Introduction: The first paragraph of any PLR articles should be completely rewritten. You can use the idea in the original, but rewrite that paragraph to be completely unique so no one will read it and think, “I’ve seen this before!”
Body: Within the body, you need to do two things. One, swap out words. For example, if you have the word “expensive”, put “pricey” instead. Do this for all adjectives and several nouns or verbs. Two, rearrange sentences. If a sentence reads, “You can find whole coffee beans at local coffee shops.” switch this to “Coffee shops are good places to find whole coffee beans.”
By following these simple steps, you can quickly and easily rewrite your PLR articles. However, if you just don’t have time to do it yourself, most freelance writers (myself included), will do this task for you at a lower rate since you have the original articles to work with.
